Thursday evening is the warm up for this weekends shenanigans!
Megadeth are doing a few UK dates and they’ve assembled quite a line up as support. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s a major difference in audience size between Lamb Of God and Megadeth – but more of that at a later date!
Second on the bill are Children Of Bodom, hailing from Espoo, Finland. A melodic death metal band with a slightly symphonic tinge to their sound.
It’s scary how fast time seems to be going, the band have been going 22 years already but they feel like relative newcomers. They released their ninth studio album, I Worship Chaos, in October so it’ll be the first chance for UK audiences to hear some new stuff.
The first time I saw them was 2004, yet another new band introduction for me at the indoor Bloodstock festival. I’ve been a bit hit and miss with the band over the years, at times I feel they over complicate things just because they can. Main man Alexi Laiho is such a talented guitarist it’s scary.
The band got their name from Lake Bodom in their home town where three teenagers were killed in 1960. It’s still unsolved to this day.
The track Needled 24/7 is taken from the bands oddly titled 2003 album Hate Crew Deathroll, the bands fourth and slightly more mainstream release, or as mainstream as death metal can get!
